About the books

The Freddie Felstead Mysteries began with a simple question: what if two perfectly modern young Londoners simply preferred the 1920s?

In 1991, Freddie Felstead and Charlotte Ashworth have chosen to live at a slight remove from their decade. The suits, the dresses, the cocktails and the conversation (faintly archaic, entirely sincere) are not costume. The mysteries they stumble into tend to belong to the same world: old firms, old objects and old secrets that somebody hoped had stayed buried.

The books are cozy mysteries in the oldest sense. The puzzle matters, the company is good, the tea is hot, and nobody needs to be murdered for the stakes to feel real. The comedy comes from understatement and observation, in the tradition of Wodehouse and Jerome K. Jerome, with a little of Tommy and Tuppence in the way two friends work a case together.

About the author

E.F. March

E.F. March writes the Freddie Felstead Mysteries with a notebook, a good editor and an unreasonable fondness for the Northern Line. The author prefers, for the moment, to let Freddie do the talking.
